Disability Support Services Bill 2026
On Monday, the 18th of May 2026, New Zealand’s Minister for Disability Issues introduced the Disability Support Services Bill to Parliament. This bill came as a complete surprise to the disability community, who were not consulted on the specific bill. More importantly, this bill is likely to drastically change and reduce state-funded disability support in New Zealand. As this is something that I feel passionately about, I have submitted the submission to the select committee considering the bill. However, I wanted to share my submission publicly to raise awareness of what the bill could mean and to encourage as many people as possible to support New Zealand’s disability community, either by writing additional submissions or sharing my submission / webpage with as many people as possible.
My Submission:
I, Maqymseahe Ninces, submitted my personal submission opposing the Disability Support Services Bill to the select committee at 5:40 p.m. on the 5th of June 2026.
